Giving Thanks

I believe that Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday, and, more to the point, a wonderful philosophy.  It seems to me that the happiest people make thanks-giving a daily way of life.

We should never take for granted the things that we have, even if there is so much more that we may want.  Nothing is ever achieved alone, so there is always someone to thank, or failing all else, just thank your lucky stars.

Food in our mouths, health in our bodies, peace in our part of the world, maybe a little love in our lives – just to name a few things – these are essential features of our lives that we just assume will be there for us.

Unwrapping the New Year

I’m starting the year off with a photo from my holiday photo shoot, one that is bright and happy and sensuous and sexy.  I’m hoping that 2011 will lend itself to the same description.

I suppose it is customary to start the year with a look forward and resolutions or goals for the coming twelve months, and who am I to mess with tradition?  Besides, publicly stating one’s goals has the effect of focusing one’s mind on them, if for no other reason than that so many other people will be aware of one’s failure or success in meeting them.  (It is a well-known fact that people are motivated more by the avoidance of pain than the pursuit of pleasure, so, yes, failure first.)
