Having received an e-mail invitation to meet a complete stranger for a drink, I was left wondering if anyone would accept this kind of invitation. When I say “complete stranger” I mean that we have never exchanged a single word.

My suitor provided me with absolutely nothing beyond:

• I like your pictures,
• I’m tall and good looking
• I’ll be in a city that has bars.

He didn’t even make the effort to make up a name for me to call him.

Is there anyone out there who would accept this invitation from “what’s-his-name?” Or even answer his message? Am I being too hard on him?
