Therapy

It has been a bad week, blog-wise.

First, someone I thought was a friend expressed “sorrow” at my “gender struggle.”

Then, no less than four others responded to my next post with a recommendation that I get therapy, one of them going so far as to liken trying to find one’s way on her own to representing oneself in legal proceedings – invoking the well-known saying that a person who is her own lawyer has a fool for a client.

I also like sayings – and the more appropriate one for today is: if three people tell you you’re drunk, lie down.

welcome

Official Welcome

Hi to everyone who has found their way over here from my old blog site. I hope you like these digs as much or more than the old ones.

Change is always a bit stressful, but I’m afraid that’s the way progress lies. Who better to know that than a t-girl, right?

To all the new folks that have dropped by, I am very happy to have you all.

I’m not going to put much content in this post, as there’s lots to take in. I hope everyone, new and old, will take some time to get comfy around here. I’ll be back soon with a shiny new post.

Once again, welcome to my new home!

Janie Who? – Second Nature Second Nature

I had the honor of being asked to do a guest post on Jessica de Leon’s fabulous blog, Jessica Who? To those of you who don’t know Jessica, she is a warm, outgoing, brilliantly funny, and insightful performer and writer. You owe it to yourself to spend some time with her and her friends.

My post, entitled “Second Nature Second-Nature” was published yesterday.  To read it, click here. [Ed. Note: link disabled]

[Ed. Note from the future: It seems Jessica’s online presence has vanished – I really hope she is alright. If anyone has any information on her, please let me know. In the meanwhile, I have disabled the links originally provided – as someone else has taken over her site – and I am reproducing the content originally seen on her site (it is mine, after all), below.]

Second Nature Second Nature

Ever find yourself dancing around the house, feeling all feminine and joyful – or is that just me?

Umm… well, I am sure we all have our moments of inner contentment and happiness at how we are feeling as our female selves.   In my case, just hearing some of my fave tunes when I am feeling that way will soon have me floating around with the music.  (It would be a lot less embarrassing if I could dance at all…)

Lead Balloon

Wow.

I am obviously out-to-lunch on what issues will resonate with you all out there.

I was sure that relaying that episode about coming within an inch of being discovered would bring out all sorts of comments about similar experiences, counsel on wise behavior, discussion of risk and need and so on.

But, I got nothing.  Just a big, flat thud. A lead balloon.

Go figure.

Needle in a Haystack

I was searching online last night for a bar or nightlife in Manhattan that welcomed t-girls, and came across an interesting, but I guess not altogether surprising, phenomenon:

There is pretty well no way to search for anything tgirl without getting utterly mucked up and mired in pornography and prostitution.  The search engines have so much of that crap tied to tgirl, or any synonym, that a search is pretty much useless.

The same, incidentally, is true of blogs.

The vast majority of so-called tgirl blogs are simply ads for porn sites.

Is this an indication of something wrong with us?  Or what?

In the Pink

Following on about blogging awards (Glamorous Blog Chain Mail Award), I have just now created an all-new award of dubious importance, which I christen the “In the Pink Award.”inthepinkicontextcurlwmk_thumb

A bit about the award and its name.

The phrase “In the Pink” has been known to cause giggles among the immature, no doubt due to the possible  sexual connotation, as in reference to the pink areas of one’s body – and I see no reason not to think of it that way too.  But, in truth, it refers to excellence of condition.

“Pink” has been used to refer to the essence of something (as in “This is the very pink of perfection!”), and is, of course, the iconic girlie color – and my personal favorite.

For all these reasons, a blog that I determine to be “In the Pink” is one that, in my opinion, is on the mark, excellent, and a personal favorite.
